Buckeye Marine Raises Funds for Local Charity

On Friday, October 7, Buckeye Marine hosted its annual Product Preview and Charity Event at its dry-land facility just outside of Bobcaygeon.

The event is hosted annually on the Friday night of the Thanksgiving weekend to raise money and awareness for a specific charity, while allowing clients the chance to see what’s new for the upcoming boating season. This year, Buckeye’s worthy recipient was the Kawartha North Family Health Team, which is raising funds to open a walk-in clinic. The Kawartha North Family Health Team is not only a resource for the local communities of Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls, but a walk-in clinic in these locations would also be the closest medical facility for many seasonal residents and Buckeye clients.

“The KNFHT is working very diligently in the community to improve health care with outside-the-box thinking. The publicly funded walk-in clinics are a great example of this,” stated Carly Poole, Buckeye Marine’s marketing co-ordinator. “We applaud KNFHT for their dedication and understand that this would not be possible without a great amount of volunteer effort and the support of the community. We urge local businesses and residents to get involved in this effort.”

“Supporting our community has been an important priority for our business and our family for years,” Poole continued. “With this priority front of mind, along with the money raised from the event, Buckeye matches the funds raised during the event and uses this money to create a sponsorship fund aimed to support local charities, groups and those in need in our community throughout the coming year.”

Buckeye recognizes this event would not be possible without the support of the marine industry, its vendors and media, Bobcaygeon and Fenelon area vendors, and of course all who attended the event. At this year’s event, attendees could help raise funds by purchasing tickets for country-style games, such as the Toonie Toss, and by participating in the traditional silent and live auctions.

“We are glad to be able to enjoy this event with our customers, local vendors, marine industry professionals and Buckeye Marine employees,” Poole stated. “We thank everyone who attended and contributed items and sponsorship because without everyone who participated the event would not have been such a huge success.”
